What's Happening in February

A magazine launch, movie nights, tablets at the library, and an online Treaty of Waitangi Collection.

Muslim Migrant Experiences – Event at Newtown!

Haere mai, Salaam and Soo dhawoow! Join us at Te Puna Waiora Newtown Library on February 7th, 5pm for the launch of international migration magazine, NANSEN!

Hear from journalist Muzhgan Samarqandi and editor Ronia Ibrahim about their experiences as Muslim migrants in Aotearoa and what “home” means to them. If you can, please bring a dish to share that tastes like home.

Movie nights at the library


Indie films, art-house flicks, documentaries and more -- join us at the library for a free film screening. Movies are selected from the library's collections and are suitable for adults. Check with the library to find out which movie is showing, or join our movie night newsletter to be in the know.

Did you know that the library has iPads you can borrow for free?

These iPads have a variety of apps already installed so you can access the library’s many eresources, such as audiobook/ebook apps – Libby and BorrowBox, and film streaming apps Kanopy and Beamafilm. You can also use the iPads for any other general use, like checking your socials, art projects or taking photos! It is also a great way to try out having an iPad before you make the big commitment of buying one.

Loans are for 3 weeks and can be booked in advance. You can find out more here.
