He PAL tāu - ratonga waea mā ngā kaitautoko You've got a PAL - a phone service for library patrons

What is PAL?

PAL is your Personal Automated Library card - the library's telephone service.

You can call PAL on 384 7640 to check:

  • The names and due-dates of items you have on loan
  • The names and availability of items you have reserved
  • Money owing
  • Opening hours

PAL will also call you to advise of late items and reserve items ready for collection. PAL will call you between 3pm and 8pm, using the main phone number you have given us. If unsuccessful after three attempts, a printed notice will be generated. PAL leaves messages on answer phones and cellphones.

How can I use PAL?

Call PAL on 384 7640, with your library card number and password ready.

Your password is the last 4 digits of the phone number in your contact details as recorded in the library system.

Keep your contact details up-to-date - PAL can only call you if we have the correct phone number. If you do not wish to receive phone calls from PAL, please tell a staff member and we will remove you from this service.

Tips:

You do not need to wait for the voice to read out all options before you enter your choice; the star key (*) will take you back to the previous menu.

Why PAL?

A large number of notices are posted out each day to customers. PAL saves time and money spent on postage and stationery, costs which are usually in the tens of thousands of dollars.

Since PAL is quicker to notify people than the post, we hope to achieve better use of the library collection, particularly those items which are in high demand.

Email Notification

Email notification is also now available for customers to use. If you would like to sign up for these, please use our email notices signup form.
