Consumer magazine is a great resource for comparing products and finding out what you need to know about a product before you buy.

Did you know its contents are indexed each month by the National Library?     The New Zealand Government agency responsible for financial regulation. It is responsible for consumer protection, regulating all financial market participants, exchanges and the setting and enforcing of financial regulations

    Comprehensive and up to date information on interest rates and market commentaries for borrowing, savings, insurance and more.
  • Good Returns
    Rates and the latest news updated daily for mortgages, deposits, shares, Kiwisaver, insurance and more.
  • Inland Revenue Department
    Information on all aspects of tax, including tax returns, rebate claims and personal summaries. You can download forms and calcualate your tax online.
  • New Zealand Federation of Family Budgeting Services
    A free service for those who would like personal help with budgeting advice and assistance. Your local service is listed in your White Pages phonebook under 'Budget Advice Services'.
  • Citizens Advice Bureau
    An independent community organisation providing free assistance and information to the general public on a variety of topics, including help with financial services and consumer problems.
  • Insolvency and Trustee Service
    Find out about bankruptcy and liquidation and what your options are if you are in financial trouble, or dealing with someone else who may be. Also provides free searches of the insolvency database to confirm bankruptcies and liquidations.
  • Banking Ombudsman
    A free service that resolves disputes between people and their banks for all types of banking issues, including use of bank credit, debit and cash cards, and the sale of insurance, superannuation or similar products.
  • Insurance and Savings Ombudsman
    A free independent service for resolving complaints against insurance companies and savings organisations, including problems with claims and policies.
  • Ministry of Consumer Affairs
    Information, education and advice for consumers and businesses on consumer laws and issues. Also includes information about scams.
  • Consumer NZ
    An independent non-profit organisation with the sole aim of getting a fairer deal for New Zealand consumers. Publisher of Consumer NZ magazine, containing consumer information, advice and test reports for a wide range of products and services.
  • Australian Consumer's Association
    Australia's equivalent of Consumer NZ and publishers of Choice magazine.
